Update: apologies to anyone who subscribes via rss during the trial and error session.I found this how-to video after a quick search for what I usually get answered in forums. It is fairly good explanation without too much technical jargon.
I’ve used this program before and the easiest feature on this program is the “add to queue” feature which when pressed allows you to add each episode from a disc that might be a tv series instead of a movie. The separate queue window allows you to see that you have added all the episodes and features the start button for the “Ron-co rotisserie” style file encoding.
One additional note for possibly copyrighted materials: I will add that I have not yet perfected the “de-interlace” feature which removes artifacts (i.e. the green and purple blocks in the middle of the screen). I had trouble directly ripping the larger video file directly from the disc in the drive although it would seem possible. The only successful method that I have used is ripping the disc with another free program like Dvd shrink and then using handbrake to read the source files (from what’s labeled “video_ts” folder). As I searched more for any that had answers as to why the artifacts show up when performing a direct rip, the answer seems to be that version 0.9.3 does not officially support copyright protected discs due to pressure from the film industry.
