Using Outlook More Efficiently

The tip of the day: (Good for if you don't read on past the screenshots) Using View Options to Edit Subject Lines of Existing E-mails

(I didn't record a tutorial or talk through a recorded video because I'm not totally convinced that this kind of method is the easiest or even most pleasant way to get a quick tip in.)

For those of us still stuck with Bill Gates' legacy software, it always pays to know the ins and outs when applying for jobs that require a certain amount of structured compliance. Up until recently, I was working for a company whose software licensing practices were probably less than compliant ethically but I'm still not sure what good complaining would have done (they had two outside IT professionals who from time to time made recommendations for upgrades to no avail). It is more than likely that people are still using Outlook 2003 if they aren't using Thunderbird or just plain web accessible e-mail for work.

I have discovered that support for offline management of e-mail clients is getting much better and lately this is being accomplished by adjusting client settings (whether it be Iphone or Outlook) to use IMAP instead of SMTP server. Secondly, using an ipod touch or ipad for offline rss is another great way to get the web offline before leaving for a morning commute. Lastly, using the relatively new folders system in gmail to control the inbox is greatly aided with the addition of IMAP support.
