There was a man who made an entire raft island using only plastic bottles that he collected from trash. It's been awhile since I've seen this and I'm hoping that time has given me a better perspective on what my judgement of his plight was then and now in the face of an idea that this man is somehow morally or ethically justified or that he should be held up as a role model for you and me alike.
The first raft was destroyed in a hurricane surely, but a second one rebuilt still has its yearly visitors as far as anyone knows (With any luck it will become a resort style bungalow.) Given the chance I might want to build the same thing, but due to continued indentured servitude I haven't found the time or trash pile to start in on construction.
My inner child and I might prefer a tree house, but those prospects are dodgier given that my current home state is subject to more earthquakes than you can shake a stick at ("at which you can shake a stick?"). I also haven't any money to get the building permits which there are most likely many to be bought so close to civilization.
